The Division of Community Environmental Protection is responsible for regulating the collection and disposal of solid wastes in Alabama. One of the authorized methods of solid waste disposal monitored by the Division of Community Environmental Protection is landfarming. Landfarming is "the incorporation of semisolid waste into the soil to establish a media for biodegradation of the waste or for the purpose of fertilization or soil conditioning." (AAC, 420-3-5-.03). This series consists of solid waste landfarming site files created during the approval process for establishing a landfarm. Typical records located in these files include permit applications, copies of landfarming permits, maps delineating the landfarm, correspondence, and conservation records.
